CPU Usage is 100%. What is wrong??

edited July 2008 in Science & Tech
My CPU usage is 100% and my computer is going really slow. In the task manager, under processes tab, spoolsv.exe (image name), SYSTEM (user name) is taking up about 91-99%. What does this mean??!!

It means you have an unprinted print job.

Check your printer (right click it under the printer/faxes) and say open.. are their any print jobs listed?

Specs of your system would also make this easier... I will assume we are talking about Windows XP here?

Thanks! That was a quick reply. Yes, I did have something printing (my printer only works a quarter of the time, so I forgot about it). And yes, it is XP. I am restarting my comp now to see if it will help.

Restarting the PC will not make the print job go away.

Open the printer dialog and delete the print job.

I am back. Sorry, I meant to say that I am deleting the print job, then restarting. I guess it wouldn't make sense just to restart. :) I think that worked though, the CPU thing is not at 100 and my computer isnt crazy horribly slow anymore. Thanks so much...I would have never figured that out.
