Firefox function slows computer down!

Hi, I'm having little problems with Firefox regarding the 'Clear Private Data' feature. I used to have the 'Always clear my private data when I close Firefox' turned on and it never gave me any problems. But recently, I started noticing that my computer always slows down horribly when I close Firefox so I turned the feature off. It works perfectly well but every time I click on 'Clear my private data', even when I haven't been browsing much, it slows the whole computer down and I have to wait for 15-20 mins before I can open anything else. Any ideas? I've checked for malware, viruses etc. and it found nothing (Comodo Firewall scan, Spybot and AVG).
