i have a westinghouse 24" monitor connected to my 8800gts 320, vista ultimate 64. When I play an old game (lets say d2, for example), I want the monitor to scale it to the maximum it can display on the screen, with black bars.

I know where the settings are in the nvidia control panel, but whenever i select an option other than "Use my display's built in scaling", it tests it, succeeds, and then as soon as i select "yes" on the apply changes? prompt, it revers back to default. halp.

Shwaip.. you may have to enable that in the menu on the monitor. Even if you are connected via DVI, the vid card may not be able to tell the monitor correctly.
