VOIP Sound problem

A friend I talk to on skype has some sort of problem and neeeds help before she makes me deaf !! When we talk I hear myself sometimes very loud , everything I say is repeated back to me at the same volume as she hears it (if she turns it up I hear it louder) . I have tried to get her settings right but the problem won't go away .Help me while I still have ears :))

    She needs to go into the control panel for her audio card, probably in the system tray. I bet it's an orange speaker icon. She needs to press mute on everything in the recording section of the mixer tab except for her microphone.

    I just looked at mine (real tek ) and it will only allow one slider to bo lit at a time . There are no mute boxes in the recording section only in playback
