Opera consuming 3 times Firefox memory :(

i pumped up all my Browsers and check out the memory consumptions... all running the same webpages...

here's how they sit:

Opera 9.52
124 K
Chrome (beta) 0.2.149.27
50 K
Internet Explorer 7.0.6001.18000
47 K
Firefox 3.0.1
46 K
Safari for Windows 3.1.2
53 K

makes me wonder why Opera is running triple memory size of other browsers? all browsers are running standard (no additional plugins of any sort)
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate SPK1

    "As far as I know, Opera's cache is dynamic. I.e. it consumes more memory the more memory is available."

    It should be obvious here, opera is bloatware, do not use. Use firefox!

    That test isn't consistent with most other tests I've seen. Typically, IE7 performs the worst, and Opera only using marginally more than Firefox. I'd be interested to hear more about your testing methodology as you didn't provide much info.

    do all the pages have the same ads? Sometimes different ads will have vastly different requirements.

    yes i ran all browsers with same sites active... these are sites with images and texts only...

    Opera has been running RAM this much for sometime now... i don't know why, i've googled and find different results which shows Opera to be about the same as Firefox...

    i don't know why it's consuming so much RAM on my machine :(

    You should do a better test, like load up 20 tabs of msn.com with all it's ad glory, and then see what the loads are. Really, differences of 50kilobytes in memory comsumption are so marginal that it could be attributed to anything.

    If you're going to compare browsers, set em up something that involves actual load.

    ok... i will try out 20+ tabs tonight and see
