My dad wants to go wireless since i think our router just died.

We have 3 computers:
1 right next to the modem so it would be connected with cat5
2 in my room that need wireless

what wireless router should i get and what NICs?

I don't have much experience in wireless so i'm not sure what i'd be looking for

Thanks

Linksys is good. They make PCI Wireless cards for desktops that work just fine.

You could always get the WRT54G and overclock it (You can up it to about 45mA output from 19mA). There is a small oval silver Netgear one which has good range, but netgear tends to cost a bit more.

They seem to support up to about 255 clients at the same time, so I don't think that will be a problem.

Linksys, Cisco, Netgear and D-Link are the main suppliers of PCI cards, so just grab one of those.

I'm a huge fan of the Linksys WRT54G and WMP54G WAP and cards.

I have a Linksys WRT54G and love it (mainly due Thrax's guide to overclocking it :) )

Very easy to set up and a few people here have them so good free tech support as well.

As for cards I use a cisco aironet 350, but thats because I got it through work and we have to use them.

I only ordered one, we're going to wait for the other computer because i don't use it too much and there's already a cat5 run under the floor, so i can use that one.
