Lock-ups and constant HDD access
CB
Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄ƷDer Millionendorf- Icrontian
It started after I downloaded and installed a new video codec (I also installed Raptr recently, but haven't heard anyone complain about it being a resource hog). The system is frequently accessing hard drive when it shouldn't be, it's getting a bit slower each day, and it locks up frequently (It's doing an odd lock-up where the only thing that continues to function is the mouse cursor. I can move the cursor wherever I want but clicking doesn't do anything, and it doesn't accept keyboard input).
I think I've been hijacked, and I'm having trouble cleaning it. I ran Avast, and it finds dangerous items, but it says it cannot do anything with them. Even if I do a boot-time scan, it says 'cannot perform tis operation with this type of file' when it tries to delete the file.
I ran Adaware, and all it found was my cookies (which I deleted, just in case)
I even went and manually deleted the directories that Avast! had found the dangerous items in, but it doesn't seem to have helped.
It looks to me like to time to wipe it clean, and begin again, but I figured I'd see if you fella's could have a crack at it.
This computer is the one called Onyx Tower in my sig, and my HiJack this log follows. Let me know if you need any other info or scans.
BTW: I got three error messages from HiJack This while it was running... Something about please e-mail someone and tell them what you were doing when this box came up... I ran the scan a second time, and got no errors, that's what I've posted here:

Thanks, Trogan.
Let me know how it is in a few days. If the problem has gone, I'll close the thread.
