Help with portforwarding

edited September 2008 in Science & Tech
Hi there Icrontic Fourms :)

I am trying to get WampServer, a hosting application for my website, to be able to run on my computer. I need to be able to open port 80, but I have no clue how. My router is a Belkin FD9230-4. Anyone mind shedding some light on this problem?

Port 80 should already be open on the router since that is the HTTP port. It may be blocked for incoming though.

In the router config.. do you have a port forwarding section? Possibly under advanced?
They may also call it something to do with gaming or just the firewall itself (since you are modifying the firewall to open a port).

You need to find the IP or your PC on the network and then forward incoming port 80 to that IP.

First off, thank you for replying so quickly :D

And, in the routers config, theres a section called "Virtual Servers", that deals with the ports.

Is this a wired or wireless router?

Belkin site has no listing for that part number.

    EDIT: Is it maybe F5D9230-4?

Yes, it is a wireless router. And also, yes, that is the one, I must have skipped a number :(

Ok... Virtual Servers is what you want.

Check the Drop down for the particular app you are using.. it just may be in there.

If not.. here is what you need to do.

    1) You still need to know the IP of the PC running your application

    2) Next to #1 on the page.. click the Enable box to check it.

    3) In Description.. type the name of the app... this just identifies what the forward is for.

    4) In the 2 Inbound port boxes.. put 80 in both.. it would normally be for a range.. but you only want 1 port.

    5) Under Type.. you want TCP or you can select "both" for TCP and UDP

    6) Private IP address... See #1.. enter the last octet of the IP for your PC

    7) Private port... Put 80 in both of those boxes.

    8) Save the changes and exit the router config. You should be done :D
