Overclocking / # of ram modules

Right now I am running (ok well as soon as my mobo gets back) 2 sticks of 256mb DDR466 corsair xms. If later on I want to upgrade to 1gb by adding 2 more of the same sticks (still retaining dual channel) will this hinder my ability to overclock the ram?

Also, if I run it @ DDR466 (which is most likely) its rated at 3-4-4-8, do you think I can tighten those timings up a bit? How? More voltage?

    More powah!. :rarr:

On the P4C800-E, give it 2.85, and it will do 3-3-3-7 @ DDR466... but your milage will vary after that... :)

Will it hinder your maximum OC? Slightly... but only by a few MHz. :)

well with the 3.2 I doubt I'll be getting the fsb past 466 (932) anyways. Would I have been better off with the pc3500 (ddr433) to get better timings at 466? or is it the same stuff?

Corsair XMS3500 is SPD programmed for 2-3-3-7.

Considering you won't get that 3.2C up to 233 MHz FSB, you probably would have been better off with that XMS3500...

If you have a few extra $$$, go for the Mushkin Black Level II PC3500, 2x256 MB.

2-3-2-6 @ 2.5V, with the ability to run at 2-2-2-6 with a voltage increase @ DDR433. It's great stuff, and guarunteed to be WinBond BH5 chips, the good ones. :D

The new OCZ limited edition is supposed to be even better even if it is the same chips. I have seen 310 1:1 @ 5,2,2,2 on those on an Athlon 64 setup. DANG fast.

    Yassir!

    MrIcee, who else.
Apparently, OCZ has started some sort of Hall of fame list. It took 3.5 or 3.6 volts though.mricee310b.jpg

    Najs work Randi!

By about 15-20c, yes. The MAIN thing though is that the Prommy runs off the mains where the Vapo runs of a dedicated. It EATS 12V. A 550W Enermax is weak i tell ya. The Enermax went down to 10.5V when the compressor was powered up. Another point i like with the Prommy is that it is in a separate box and not above the rest of the system.
