Can't connect to network...
Ok, this one is trivial.
I had Windows Vista Business installed and decided I'd switch to Premium because of Media Center. I performed a clean install but, when I was done, I could no longer connect to the internet/network. I have 3 computers all connected to one router (2 laptops wireless and 1 desktop wired). We are dealing here with the wired desktop. When I do an ipconfig, I see that the router is not assigning it an IP (it should be 192.168.15.xxx). Here are the results of ipconfig/all:

I don't understand why I can't connect. It briefly worked when I plugged directly into the modem, but then after I installed the updates it won't work again! The LAN connection shows connected to "Unidentified network." Anyone have any suggestions...? at all?
Here are a couple of things we can rule out:
1. Its not the cable, it works fine when I plug into my laptop.
2. Its not the NIC, it worked when I plugged directly into the modem.
3. It can't be the router, I was on it before I installed Premium, and then was on it again until I installed the updates and restarted.

Yup, I have two ports. One is connected, one isn't.
UPDATE: and no, it doesn't make a difference which port i plug into (tried it )
Winsock shouldn't be the problem since its new installation of the OS, but I'll try...
UPDATE: Nope, it didn't work... I also tried the netsh int ip reset
SOLVED

Ok, so I'm going to attribute this to the firmware upgrade I performed, but it could really be anything. I went through A LOT of different steps but I am pretty sure that upgrading my routers firmware solved this for me. I have the Linksys WRP400 and the FW was 1.00.04 so I upgraded to 1.00.06 and now its assigning me an IP and everything fine. Lets just hope it keeps working!!!
