Software troubles

Ok i downloaded the maxpayne 2 demo at a lan cafe made sure it worked there then i burnt it too disc and bought it home.

No when i try to access it, it does the egg timer and just stops and does not load. How do i sort it out.

Specs on cafe machine windows XP
specs on my machine windows 2000

Hmmm i think i may have worked it out, they have got NFTS partioning and i have FAT32 file structure, could it be that?

Well im gonna reformat one of my smaller drives to find out.

    The CD you burned uses a different file system altogether. Is the CD closed?

    What do you see on the CD in Win Explorer? You might try copying the CD to your HD and try it from there.

    Well it uses CDFS as its file system

    Ive tried copying it to a local drive and the same thing still happens :(

    Sounds like a distinct possibility that the file was corrupted.

    What program did you use to receive the game?

    Internet explorer.

    I dont know what they used to burn it :(

    I know it worked at the netcafe.

    Could of been corrupted by cd burning process

    See, thats why you should compress large files anyway, firstly a possible loass of size (if it isn't already compressed heavily) and secondly, it will CRC check it when you extract it, so you know if it is damaged at all.

    Did the Demo actually install? Or does it not get that far? If it does install then I doubt it is currupted as installers normally CRC each file in themselves anyway.

    Do you have trouble with any other games?

    No it didnt install :( im just gonna download it on slooooow 56k

    Leavin it on overnight
