I remember them announcing the episodic nature of 1-3 after HL2 came out in 04. I was excited to keep it going in quick succession. It's been every thing but.
But it doesn't really matter. Each episode has been exceptionally great. None have disappointed me, with the exception of the cliffhangers. Ep. 3 will be flawless.
my biggest concern is the aging Source engine. They've managed to keep it updated with real time shadows and HDR lighting, but I'm curious how far they can really push it. I would love to see a true HL3 with a brad new engine, but I'm sure it won't happen. They've said they're wrapping up the story with Ep3, and the 3 episodes together are supposed to equal their own HL3.
So the real quesion - will Ep3 live up to the oranje bawks? That box raised the bar impossibly high with it's content. Will they try to match the content with Ep3, or will it stand alone like the retail of Ep1?
It's driving me crazy waiting in anticipation for Ep 3!!!
HL really has never disappointed me except for release time. To me, its an awesome story, with my favorite videogame music ever, and an oh-so iconic crowbar as a cherry on top. I WOULD like to see another upgrade in Source graphics, but really, I'm happy as long as it comes out faster (I'm a pawn to evil video game makers). And hay, we all knew the graphics probably wouldn't change when we raved about ep 1. Why start complaining now?
I would definitely love to see them try to out do their own Orange Box. New Portal missions or a new portal game would be appreciated. This is probably a just daydream, but: I would scream in joy if they included Left4Dead in the pack.
I think I'm going to replay Ep 2 soon. Hopefully get that damned gnome into space this time.
Woo hoo! more Half Life. It has to include the Portal gun, please, please. A few days ago I started HL2 again. It's obviously not the same as the first time but still loads of fun.
I may have to pop out for Far Cry 2 shortly though, then, next month, it'll be Lara in her new one. It's going to be a good few months.
