Prescott bios

edited December 2003 in Hardware
Whooo Hoooo, I was just on Chaintech's site and the newest bios is out and it supports the Prescott CPU so I guess that kind of answers the question about whether or not it will be apearing in 478 trim.
Although, if it doesn't offer at least 1mb of L2 cache @ 2.8ghz for a fairly reasonable price I'm not going to be terribly interested in one.

    "fairly reasonable price"

What do you think? Prolly around the price of an EE or $975 on newegg.

I would say $700-800, with the P4C-EE filling in the $900-1k pricepoint ( )

For a 2.8 Prescott I'd think it should be about 20% higher than a standard 2.8c P4. It's not any faster than the c rev. P4 and for at least about 6mo.s the SSE3 instructions won't be leveraged by any software so the performance will only be mariginally better.
I'd expect the fastest version to be about $800ea per 1000 if it debuts at above 3.4ghz.
