Asus A7N8X-E sata or raid ???

edited December 2003 in Hardware
This mobo has 2 sata ports. Can these be run with a single drive or does this have to be used as a raid setup ?
I just purchased this mobo and 1 drive. If this is for raid only I will be calling new egg tomorrow!

It functions as a standard ATA controller.

    Now for my next question.
I have 2 dvd drives on my 2 IDE channels as masters and my hard drive on one of the sata channels. My sata drive was not detected on startup. I have not looked through the bios yet.
Can I select the sata drive for my primary boot device in the bios ?
I am really tempted to get another drive and raid 0. The western digital drive WD1600JD does not have any markings for my jumper settings. The wd web site was less than helpful.
    Thanks-

If on SATA, you must remove drive jumpers entirely as SATA does not distinguish master/slave.

In the BIOS, you must set primary boot device to SATA.
