My 2 gripes are with your video card; Inherently abysmal, and your sound card; not up to snuff due to age.

Naturally, my third gripe would be with the P4.. But that's just a given.

    Welcome to Short-Media, Neo.:)

Don't worry, Thrax thinks that money spent on Intel is gross wastage of money.;)

I will be building a rig somewhat similar to what you are building myself. I'll be using the IC7-G instead of the Max3 though(a lot cheaper and this rig is on a budget) and an AIW9800 Pro for video.

The old XP1600 system is a good start for a fine folding rig, BTW. AMD's crunch folding WU's not crazy.;)

The "Turtle Beach SC" is still regarded as a good card, so the only real upgrade to go from there would be a Revo 7.1 if you don't game, and an Audigy 2 ZS if you do.

My next stuff to come is firstly a new PSU.. 450W Allied or a 430W Antec TRUEPower...

Next will be either the A2 ZS... or some SATA hdd

If you have the extra bux, I highly recommend the Antec TrueControl 550. I got one about 3 months ago and it's solid as a rock and being able to adjust the rails is great too.

Wtih the DVD, and later SATA, the 550 would be reasonable starting PSU. Otherwise, would say about 500 watts if no SATA later.

Yeah, I agree although I have read reviews where a generic 350W psu was used and overclocked fine with other pieces of hardware used.

My AMD will use a AGP gfx card still... (a GF2MX200) but I dunno if It'll fold, Im giving it to my dad for a Linux machine... maybe I can fold tho :D

There is a Linux folding client. And he wouldn't even notice it running - F@H is just that kind to your PC!
