screen scrolling

I just upgraded an old gateway laptop to windows XP home edition. I'M also running windows explorer 7. When scrolling up or down on a web site, it doesn't do it smoothly the way it does on my other lap top (dell, also windows XP and explorer 7). it is skipping a few lines at a time and really makes it hard to keep up when reading long paragraphs. does anyone know how I can change it so it scrolls smoother?

    If you go into the Device manager (properties on My Computer) does it show any items marked with an exclamation mark?

    Sounds like your video drivers might not be installed.

    This is usually the cause. ^

    Do you have all the windows updates? They'll usually include a video driver as one of the hardware-related updates.
