Ahhh, My 9500np 128mb is dead!!

Happened on Xmas Eve, while i was out, came back and this image was on the screen. Everything was fine before I left, wasn't overclocked and cant seen any scorching or anything untoward on the card.

Ok so I just tried to flash the vid card hoping that might sort it out. But everytime i try to flash it using Atiflash or Flashrom I keep getting a "file open error".

Can anybody tell me what this means or what I'm doing wrong?

    Cheers

    Ahhhhh, Shorty,

Why didn't you say, I've just ordered a Hercules 9800se AIW. If I'd know you had a 9700pro for sale I'd have bought that.

This just happened to me...only on my 9700 Pro card. I've got a Geforce 3 in there in the meantime.

    Picture010345.jpg.

This card has never has a BIOS flash. Never been overclocked. Worked perfectly until today when I tried to play Flight Simulator 2004.

I tried resetting the CMOS, didn't work. When I boot up, I get a similar gargled screen. Took the card out, reseated it. Still trash on the screen. WTF?

    What. The. $%&@!!!

I have a red PCB 9700Pro with Samsung memory. But I guess this problem can affect any 9500, 9700 or 9800. Are these Radeon's days numbered?

    Argggg....

ATi sent me the RMA info so now I have to wait about 2 weeks for it to be repaired/replaced.

That exact thing happened to me with my H.I.S. R9600XT (only 9600xt they had left)

Brand new out of the box, fine while POSTing, but as soon as it hit windows 2k it was screwed up like in the first post.

I managed to install some drivers (since it outputted fine before windows) with the monitor all screwed up like that, and after the reboot it was all good, and I haven't had any problems since.:scratch:

I've updated the drivers as ATi has released them, but otherwise I hadn't done a thing to the card. :grumble:
