Install the OS in a way that will allow \Program Files to sit on a Network Drive?

Background thus:
I am about to build a Media Center on teh understanding from the Long haired one that it isn't noisy and won't look out of place in the Lounge or cost too much!! So Silverstone LC19B Case (with fanless PSU), AMD CPU, ASUS p5 series MB (2Gb RAM), Low Profile Cooler (the only moving part:bigggrin:), OCZ 30GB SSD Drive.

So I won't have a lot of space left for apps on the SSD, what io am thinking is this, can I install "My Movies" on a Network drive alkong with the media that is referenced in it.

I realise that some of the OS components sit in Program Files but given the limited space on the drive (30Gb for cost reasons!!), is it possible to have any apps that are installed after the OS install residing on a network drive, I have asked the OS infrastructure guys at work and received a combination of sucking of teeth and "good question that, I don't know".

So does anyone here know if its possible?

Yes you can... you would have to map a persistent drive (Say z drive is really \\server1\remote-apps) then when you install the application and it asks you for the default installation path, change it to the Z-drive. The app may or may not work nicely depending on what it requires and the speed of your network.
