well, preliminary test didn't go so well. It crashed Oblivion twice, and though I got it to work with Flatout 2 I was averaging around 25-30 FPS. This game is almost 3 years old, my system doesn't even flinch during FarCry2, and gets about 25 FPS on Crysis with very high settings.
Something aint right about that.
But I don't have time to tweak it, I'm sure something can be adjusted. I'll get back to it after work.
I went ahead and did a quick and dirty benchmark showing CPU/mem usage, process dispaly, and FPS using fraps. I'll post soon when I get to an internet connection, have to get on the road to south bend now.
No, I'm not going to keep using it, but not because it's bad or anything. My computer is robust enough that I play all my games in windowed mode for quick alt-tabbing. It's just the way I've come to use my PC, and I'm comfortable with that workflow.

For people who don't run there game in window much - which dare I say is most gamers - this is going to be huge.
I'd like to see the mem/cpu usage however
cheers
This is the one thing I've been saying for MONTHS that Steam needs. This makes me very, very happy.
We must benchmark this for great justice.

This is a really neat product, though.
