MORE Ram Help!!
Yep its me again! Hehe, OK so now I have 2 sticks of 512MB of PC2700 DDR Ram working fine in my system...ok you know I am lying why would I be posting here if it worked fine!!! I now have one gig of RAM and ANYTHING in 3D is giving me a headache! It has worked for hours surfing the net, running mem tests, and anything else I can think of to get it to stop working. The ONLY thing that crashes my comp is a 3D app, actually it doesn't crash it, the 3D app just stops...tried a ton of them BF1942, both 3D Marks, after some amount of time they crash. I saw a post telling me to change my Frame buffer, but I have no idea how to do that. I also saw a post some where (CAN'T FIND IT ARGHHH!!!) that said windows may have a problem with 1 GIG of memory and something to change to make it read a little less to window. Does anyone have the foggiest idea what I am talking about or what to do??? My Specs:
AMD 2700+
Radeon 9800 (not OCED anymore)
2 sticks 512 MB PC 2700
FIC AM39L MOBO
the sticks are compatible with the MOBO and I ran memtest on BOTH sticks plenty and they are both good. Tried switching them between the two banks too and my comp REALLY hated that hehe.

Have you updated the bios on your motherboard?
Yes it would. My 5v rail is at 4.98 normally, but as soon as I get into a game, it drops down to 4.72v due to the drain from the Radeon 9700, which is more evidence that it is probably a power issue. What are the full specs of you machine? 350w seems a bit low for a modern machine, even for just the components you posted in the first post.
Disaster1...starting to stretch here, there's nothing real obvious based on the info you've given. It *could* be a "driver order" problem. IF you have the ability to back up your critical files, do so then reformat (NOT 'quick' option) and reinstall Windows. Then load your system in this order, preferrably by first burning a disk with some of the critical drivers: Windows->SP1 (or whatever service packs are for your version if not using XP/XPPro)->Defrag->VIA chipset drivers->LAN drivers->defrag->WindowsUpdates ALL including DX9->defrag->audio drivers->defrag->ATI drivers->defrag.
And that is a lotta work yes and may not work I realize. You would also prefer to NOT do this with the EMachines Windows disk if you have another copy of Windows around, so they don't load any excess crud on your machine plus give you maximum flexibility, usually propriatary OS versions have been somewhat retooled. But a nice clean fresh install is almost always a faster and leaner operating system and in doing so, if there are any driver issues hopefully they will go away.
It never did this with my GeForce 3, so I inclined to say it is something else (same proc & HD). Putting the CPU and HD under load don't change the voltage anywhere near that much.
In case you skipped straight to this post, please do not read above where some dumbass named keto said it was "NOT the memory"
And hey, Keto.. We all make mistakes.
