no cable detected error on monitor

edited December 2008 in Hardware
recieving a no cable detected error on monitor, have swapped out video card, and monitor, both the video card and monitor work with other computers. Was working before dinner, was shut down properly and after dinner will not work, no pins are bent on puter or monitor cable, any idea what is wrong with this thing?

First step: Try the monitor on another system and the system with another monitor, in order to narrow down where the problem is.

    PROBLEM SOLVED!

Thank god for talking motherboards. Upon listening to the ASUS motherboard scream "SYSTEM FAILED CPU TEST" I see now it's a power supply issue, having encountered this same error code in the past.

Thank you for all your help, a new supply should clear the issue right up

    Hi lark,

Could you please explain how you solved this. I have had the same problem and I was about to go buy a new card. I know my monitor is fine but I dont get anything out of the GPU. It seems to be booting OK but I have no spare MB, Pro, or GPU to test with
