Outlook won't send emails suddenly

I have two different email accounts that operate from different servers that have not been able to send emails at all today... both are receiving, however.. Outlook 03, Vista Ultimate x64... i'm setup with comcast cable, smoothwall, and dhcp and ad from server 2003... Everything's been completely stable until this.

When I got into account settings and push the "test settings" button... i get this error:

"Send test e-mail message: The specified server was found, but there was no response from the server. Please verify that the port and SSL information is correct. To access these settings blah blah blah..."

and

"Find outgoing mail server (SMTP): Outlook could not connect to the ougoing mail server (SMTP). The problem could be the server name or port, or your server may not support SSL. Verify your port and SSL settings blah blah blah..."

I will provide my comcast email settings here:

Name JP Fulton
Email: jpfulton248(at)comcast.net
pop3: mail.comcast.net
smtp: smtp.comcast.net
user: jpfulton248
pass: password
logon using spa is not checked
outgoing server requires authentication is checked
pop3 port: 110
pop3 server requires authentication (ssl) is not checked
smtp port: is 25
smtp server requires authentication (ssl) is not checked

Let me know what else might be needed... it feels like there's an outgoing connex being blocked somewhere... Computer appears to be clean as a whistle in terms of malware.

Thanks in advance once again!

    wtf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rarr:

I just got off the phone with the dude... he said to change to outgoing port 587 and I tested but then didn't realize that i still had no internet connex b/c the pc was still refreshing the ip from previous troubleshooting... whatever... got off the phone with him and now it's working... so i should be happy... but the other email account (cathedraldirectories) is still not working on the default port 25...

    so wtf?

edit: he said to go to 587 and check the box for secure connection

oh... and... cathedraldirectories.com works on outgoing port 26

Anybody know what happened? did i like overuse the ports or something and getting put in naughty boy timeout?

Bit I think we all assumed a guy who uses smoothwall gave us a bogus password. You go ahead and check his email using that password....I've got the feeling you won't authenticate.

Comcast is pissin me off, changing stuff without notice, then playing dumb (maybe not playing) but anyways it is just a matter of changing to 587 and clicking My server requires authentication. that fixed my outgoing issue
