Can I put a faster processor in this MB?

I recently built a computer for someone, and the next day he blew up the MB by unplugging the only memory stick with the computer turned on! So today we went to a computer show to get another MB and some extra memory. The stick he unplugged was burned on one contact but tested good.

It was almost all Socket 462 and Slot A AMD stuff at that show. I finally found a new (from 1998) Tyan S1857 Trinity 371 MB for a Socket 370, and also got a cheap audio card, video card, and another stick of PC133 128 MB memory.

Looking through the instruction book, it says it supports processors up to 533 and 600 Mhz, in P3's and Celerons. We have a 1000 Mhz Celeron to put in it.

I looked on Tyan's website, and I can download a new BIOS version, but I wonder what will happen if I just put the 1000 Mhz Celeron in and don't change anything else. The MB has a bunch of jumpers on it to adjust the CPU speed, so I'm guessing I can overclock this thing pretty good.

The Celeron has a 100 Mhz bus, and our memory is all PC133, so we have some room to play with it. :buck:

Likely the mobo won't recognize the processory without a bios update OR it will run but at much slower speeds than stock, but I'm guessing the former.
