More memory is a good thing if you are using memory intensive applications such as graphic programs (Photoshop or Video Editing). If you think more ram will help with overclocking or give a significant speed increase with "day to day" apps and games...no.

Well, it greatly reduces load times, especially with large games.

Yeah, try running Planetside without a Gig or RAM or at LEAST 768MB. On my machine it would use up nearly 900MB, while I only had 512MB, thus when I made quick turns, it would give me slight jerks as it had to read the HDD :P

hehe, in other words, is your Hard Drive faster than your RAM? If not, then I would go for the Gig of RAM
