Did you look to see what task is hogging the CPU? Sometimes Firefox or IE will get an error and cause this to happen, other times I've seen adobe cause this problems and even more commonly a print spooler will go crazy and do this.

Have you tried rebooting your computer to see if the problem goes away and if it comes back?
  • edited February 2009
i have this problem about 2 weeks. the cpu reach to 100% even when theres no program workin. i use adobe all the time, several applications, and until the problom started i didnt have problem with that.
    whats a printer spooler?

    thank you :)

Right click on a blank spot on your start bar and then choose task manager. Then click on the process tab and look for any process that are using excessive cpu %.
You can also get to the task manager by hitting CTRL+ALT+DEL and selecting Task Manager from the list.

A spooler is what controls print jobs and it can go berserk even if you aren't printing anything at the time.

the "system idle process" are the process with the highest cpu usage. i dont have printer connected to this computer.

You don't have to have any printers installed for the spooler to go crazy, but that's beside the point. If you don't have any CPU resources running extremely high beyond the System Idle one then it's not that.

I looked through your hijack log and it came up mostly clean but with a few questionable ones.

First I noticed that you seem to be running forescout secure which is an end to end point security encrypter. Is that something you need? Because that could be causing some network slow down. Especially if you aren't actually connecting to the connector on the other side.

Secondly it looks like you are running both kapersky anti-virus and macfee anti-virus, or you were running it at one point. In any event you should only ever run one form of anti-virus software on a computer running multiple programs can cause a very significant performance hit. I'd suggest you make sure macfee is no longer installed. Check in your add/remove programs and remove it there if it's still showing. Then go into program files and delete the directory if it's still there.

Next I'd suggest you get a program called. ccleaner and use it's registry fix tool to clean up any dead entries.

Once that's done we'll see how things progress from there.

    hi,
ive already done this things. i'm writing here when i'm desperate...:)
the secure connector is something that my university force me to run, cause my computer are connected to the dorm net, it never cause any trouble.

i uninstall the mcafee long time ago and deleted it from the regisrty but theres still some files in the program files folder that can't be deleted, i dont know why.

i clean my registry every once in a while with ccleaner and tuneup utilities (great program), and i scaned the computer with malwarebyts cause i thought this might be a virus or something.

any ideas? its realy annoying! thanks anyway:)

1st delete the macfee entry from starting up in hijack this. Then check in services.msc and see if there are any services still set to automatic or manual for macfee and if so stop them if they are running and set the startup type to disabled.

Then boot into safemode and try and delete the program file. If you still can't then you should be able to boot off a windows disk use recover console and manually delete it. Then run cclearner again and that should be the last of macfee.

But still if your cpu % is always 100% what programs are using it? can you sort it by CPU % and then put up a screen shot or just list them so we can take a look.

Looks like internet explorer is going crazy. If you don't have ie running and open at the time do things work normally? iexplore.exe shouldn't be there if Internet Explorer isn't open

Go into IE and delete all your cookies and offline content. Also make sure that the offline content size is limited to 50 - 100mb. Plus make sure that you've got all the latest windows updates installed. You are one service pack behind on windows and I'm guessing you are also missing some security updates for IE 7.

ill try that. i installed once the sp3 but it came with so many problems so i reinstall the sp2. i think the iexplorer its part of the problem because i use it like i always does without any unusual activities and nw it takes a lot more ram than it used to be.

There are some compatibility issues with SP3 that I experienced on a couple machines. I've since installed it on many more and haven't had any issues. The machines that had compatibility problems it was with the cd/dvd burning software and a couple other really old programs that hadn't been updated for some time.

I think IE is probably your best bet at being the problem. Do those things I mentioned to clear out the offline stuff, it can easily be a bad cookie or corrupted offline content that causes IE to bug out. Another possible candidate is you got a bad activex component installed at some point.

how can i check what activex are installed on my computer? i deleted all the offline contents, iexplorer still going crazy, when im shutting it down the computer work fine.

done that. didnt see anything suspicious. i thought it might be "inetinfo.exe" process that cause the problem, caus i noticed that when i end the process the computer work fine, but after a few minutes the process starts to work again, so i uninstall the iss and the computer work fine, i hope it stays this way after i restart the computer. thank you so much ill update if itll back. :)

You definitely don't need ISS running, unless you are running a web server that is. Odd though that it would cause massive slow downs and flood your CPU. Unless of course there was something wrong with it.
