FSB and RAM optimal performance

I could probably ask this in IRC, but I thought this would be good info for the forums.

If you cant run the FSB at the speed/spec of your RAM, is it better to run 1:1 as opposed to 4:5

Example: 400FSB, 1000mhz RAM

Run 1:1 400/800
or
Run 4:5 400/1000

??

Any memory bandwidth above your current FSB is essentially wasted. Provided you can't get your FSB to match your memory (not everyone can use a 500MHZ FSB), get your FSB as high as possible and run 1:1.
