Laptop DVD replacement.

Hi all,
The DVD in my Daughters laptop (a pioneer dr-k17y) has curled its toes up and died. I aim to replace it but, although I have built all my PCs, and several others, I have never done anything on a laptop. How easy is it, anything I need to watch out for etc? Any pointers would be gratefully received.

Generally you need to buy a replacement from your laptop vendor because they use specific form factors and connectors, much the same way as every chasis model has it's own batter type, same thing applies for the optical drive.

    ^What he said.

Usually they have ejection buttons or they're attached by a single screw which should be accessible on the bottom or under a cover.
