Monitor Contrast to bright on my Dell Desktop.

I somehow got into a file with the contrast and brightness settings and made it too bright. From what I've read what I did was not going through 'Control Panel' and making those simple changes. This allowed you to move points on contrast and brightness graphs. It was more detailed. Does anyone know how I can find this and change the cont. and bright. back to their original setting?

    Did you do it by pressing buttons on the monitor, or was it definitely from Within Windows?
