edited February 2009 in Science & Tech
Looking for windows XP Driver for Network controller and for unknown, found most on the internet, but these two keep giving me problems. The network controller is for WiFi adapter. Could use some help if anyone knows where I can find the drivers.:rolleyes:

    If the asset tag or service tag is still on the back of the machine, go to Dell.com and then support and drivers. Put that number in and it should take you to the original system page where you can download all of the drivers you need. At least that's how I do it when I reformat one of the machines here at work with no driver disk.

    Also, from what you said it's the chipset driver you may need to have loaded first.

    @Callred:

    Unfortunately the 173x series of Dell laptops is strictly a Vista line. No XP drivers are available beyond what people have managed to cobble together by their lonesome.

    Thanks Thrax, I didn't know. Many of the Dells we get come with Vista but were downrated to XP because businesses can't always use Vista. That's how I get mine in still. Maybe I can ask my Dell rep if she knows of a way to find some hidden on the site....

    As a Desktop Support Tech for over 500 Dell PC's, I have used all my normal avenues to find WinXP drivers for the 1737... Dell is just not offering them. :(

    Too bad. I know I've become limited on just what systems I can buy from them now because of that. I also know that XP is going away at some point but we run proprietary software that will not run on Vista so my hands are tied....
