WIRELESS ROUTER

edited February 2009 in Hardware
To access the web, i currently have a hard wired cable modem in and ethernet out to the pc. I purchased a lynksis cable wireless modem which i merely plugged the cable into the lynksis and then ethernet to the pc...the modem picks up the internet (as lights indicate) but my pc won't access the web. It appears to be something to do with the mac address. Can one just clone the mac address from the old modem to the new one or is there some where in xp that this is done???

You replaced the entire modem? You'll probably have to call your service provider and get them to allow the new modem's MAC onto their network.
