Where do you encounter the error? When?

Mine does the same thing when trying to work with kunaki.com. Very frustrating. Nobody on the net seems to know why this is, just google the term "general device I/O error"
My puter is a new compaq with Vista home premium.

We need more information to troubleshoot this kind of problem. A DVD-RW IO error can be anything from an old drive, scratched disc, to bad copy protection drivers that mess with the system.

A General I/O Error when accessing a website would be either a popup trying to sell you junk, or a problem with your hard drive.

Really though, without more information, these are just guesses.
