HD dead on SM17??

Something's up with SM17, she doesn't want to detect any devices on bootup and I fear the HD is toast. I'll have a definitive answer on the hd by tomorrow. I have a bunch of spare 40GB's that I can swap out and put an older HD in SM17 so there's no need for any additional hardware. The board was previously giving me problems with the HD (unable to boot off it) so perhaps it was on the way out.

I need some sleep now, but I figured I'd post so people know the reason for the stat flatline.

Cheers,

QP

ROFL ok I lied. It just took about 30 minutes for the HD to be detected ... I thought it was just hanging in the boot but apparently its just slow. Sorry for the false alarm :/ I'll probably still swap out the HD (or run with two) just to be on the safe side.

In the BIOS is there a delay time for IDE devices or something? If there is it could be set to something other than 0. Or even if it is 0 it could take longer and then not recognize it since the time was not long enough.

    Glad its still good.
