In EI and FF, dragging the mouse with the wheel depressed does this scrolling thing. Is there a way to turn that off?

It would have to be in your mouse config if there is.

If not under the mouse settings in Control Panel, check any software for the mouse itself.

It's not in the mouse settings in Windows. I suppose I could try to install the mouse software... I usually don't because it's clutter I usually don't need for anything, but if that's the only way to fix it...

I don't have the software installed for my OCZ either. I also do not see it in the CP settings.
Suffice it to say that I am replicating what you see, but cannot see a way to stop it.
I checked everything in IE7, there is definitely no setting for it there.

    In Firefox
Tools / Options / Advanced / Use autoscrolling <- Uncheck That.

I am not aware of any way to stop it in IE...

Yes! Thanks troll. This is a big help. I don't use IE very much anyway, so this will be enough to stop frustrating me :D

I personally love my mouse's software through logitech. The dang thing has 11 buttons, that I set up as hotkeys, and run half the stuff I do in video games off it to keep that more console feel to my playing.

It also allows me to disable all the auto-scroll features and stuff, so if yer mouse is logitech, the software install is worth it IMHO.

I've got the G5, so I've only got 4 buttons, and they all already do what I want them to do. *shrug*

Awesome. This is always something that was a bit too finnicky on my G5. Thanks for posting this CB, and thanks for the answer, Troll. :)

Yeah, that's one of my very few complaints about the G5 (and the G7) the wheel button is too hard to push. It takes at least 4 times as much pressure to push the wheel as it does the regular buttons, and it's difficult to do it quickly while holding the mouse still. I ended up accidentally activating that stoopid auto scroll function at least three times/day...
