So i had the idea of setting up teams in advance and it seems that others are interested in doing gaming this way as well. This way you guys can set up your own teams and practice or w/e you want to do. I think this will make the tournaments more exciting.
Couple questions:
Do we want to do this for all gaming or still have randome tourneys?
Do you guys want to set up "all around" teams and particepate in all games w/ that team?
If we have 50 people who will show up what size teams do we want?
Please leave some feedback on how you guys want to this to run.

TF2 could become super un-balanced with a 12/16 person uber team, whereas L4D only has 4 people on a team. Just a thought.

We can do pro/predetermined teams on smaller basis. Have 6v6 TF2 or 5v5 UT2K4. I wouldn't mind how this works as long as people that are not on a team have something to do.

This could work well if you have "big" tourneys late in the day with causal gaming tourney's or RTS's during the day.

Ok, so if we want to form 4 man L4D teams, and say 5 man teams for TF2, UT, and w/e other game we decide on. I think it would be easier to keep track of if we keep teams uniform.
I think this could be a one day thing where we sort of play for a team championship based on all the games.

I'd try to balance a 5-person TF2 team accordingly. Check out the 'most skilled' link in my sig, try not to put them all ont he same team, etc. It's no fun, really.

How would the team members be assigned? Captains pick, like we would do at the event, or just make it each person's responcability to find 4-5 other guys, and register?

I think the idea of pre-aranged teams sounds good in theory, but I'm afraid that since it's no longer a game-centric event, you'll run into too many situations of people's teams not all being available at once...

Then again, having a static team throughout the event might make people feel more beholden to be there when they need to be there, so as not to let down their team.

Just a note, TT, but since the server moved, your link no longer works. It needs the new IC server IP :)

If it's Counter-Strike, Unreal Tournament, or Quake which to me are true competitive games I'll jump in.

But as far as TF2, L4D, or other games like that i'll just be pubbin' and drinking beers.

I am willing to help with any aspect of this (if I make it). I won't be playing much in the way of games, this laptop can sort of play TF2 and L4D, but those are about the best it can do.

Well, if we do decide on a set team based play not everyone will be playing at the same time so there will be open machines I'm sure.

As for picking teams, I say for starters let people just form their own teams. But, keep in mind that there will be 6-10 teams depending on who is participating so please try to balance a bit. The idea of making teams ahead of time is so that you can organize and i guess practice as a team so take on a new or less seasoned teammate.

For now, if you get your 5 man tf2 team and or a 4 man l4d team together PM me with their forum names.

If there is a tourney with pre-determined teams, I hope that there's also one with random or captain-picked teams. People could participate in both if they want.

I don't want to practice ahead of the LAN, I just want to show up and shoot people.

I think we only need to do the pre-determined teams for the Left 4 Dead Tournament. No one needs to practice TF2, we all have a class(es) we're good at.

No, the way im thinking at this point is a day, or depending on particepation. half day of this pre-planned team gaming culminating in a team champ. Then we will do the standard sort of thing we normally do: captains pick and random.
