While dodge and parry are great for all tanks, those 2 aspects are not so complementary to Pally tanks or even Warrior Tanks. If you look at a good DK tank they will stack the hell out of Parry and Dodge. The above gloves are perfect for them.

Good pally and warrior tanks want items with pure block, especially shield block this both mitigates and gives better threat generation. Mitigation overall is key for any tank... but once a Pally hits 102.4% avoidance it is almost better to gem with strength and stam.

    Exp:

Liquidwulf: Lvl 80 DK Tank: Look at the spec and say WTF? but look at the tank point break down and he is at 93% mitigation in a dual sword tank spec in Unholy & not in Frost. With certain items selected in blood and frost trees he can get himself to only take 400k damage in 25man Patchwork fight while a really good pally or warrior tank will take upwards of 11.1mil damage.

    its insane :)

Parry is a DK stat because they are incapable of equipping a shield. They have short cooldown abilities and talents that allow them to avoid the effect of a mob that's been parried. Namely, a mob that parries an incoming attack is hasted by 40%, or automatically reset to the next swing if the mob's remaining swing timer is less than 20% of the total swing timer.

This means that a high-parry tank will unnecessarily take 40-100% faster damage than a tank that has relied on dodge/block mitigation/avoidance. Many bosses have had this functionality eliminated to compensate for the arrival of DKs, but many more bosses can still be parry hasted. Parry hasting will gib a non-DK tank with the quickness.

In short, keep your parry chance as low as possible. Some parry items will still be BIS for a tank (the tanking axe from KT on Naxx-25 is BIS for a Protadin), but by in large you should avoid them.
