master/slave drives

I have two laptops; one thats not booting up because of a missing system file and it won't boot from anything (no drives!) and the other one works good, so my question is, can and how would I hook up the two laptops together, to make one master and the other as a slave. I think thats the only way I may have a chance of fixing the laptop.

The easiest and most cost effective way short of taking the non-booting laptop into a tech, would be to buy an external caddy for the drive in that unit. You can get decent USB ones for around $30 CAD, so probably like $20 US. Just remove the drive, plug it into the USB, and fix it using the other laptop that's functional.
