Stumped on a backup of XP

I am probably not posting this in the right area. Hopefully someone spots this one and can redirect it or help me. I have been dealing with this pain in the a$$ HP pavillion for a friend. The mobo died and I found a replacement, I put it in the system and the hard drive would not boot. I am not sure what that was all about so I backed up the C: drive on XP Professional backup application. I finally get a disc for Home Edition which is what was installed on there. I install the Home edition and it works great but no backup application on Home Edition. Well not one that I can find.

I thought maybe I could put the extra hard drive in that system and boot up off the XP Pro that is already configured to that system along with the XP home hard drive and use the XP Pro backup and restore application to backup the XP Home hard drive. Is this possible?

If someone can help me out onthis one I would appreciate it. If I happened to leave some needed info out just let me know. I think I managed to capture all of my thoughts on this one and I just look forward to getting this piece of crap out of my house and back to it's original owner.

Thanks

Insert your Windows XP Home CD, and go to VALUEADD\MSFT\NTBACKUP

The installer for the backup utility is there.
