Right then, After my format etc I need to put f@h back in but can't remember which one I had. Which would be best for me? Gotta get back on.

All things considered, use the console version as it uses the least in resources. Some may include running it as a service. (but then that's another service running) ;)

Got it, installed it, running it. It look differant, I must have had the graphical one before, will it just keep running in the background as before? Do I need to do anything else?

In your start-up short-cut, be sure to append the "-forceSSE -verbosity 9" switches to the address string. That way the SSE optimizations are forced on and the verbosity 9 thing will note the fahlog in better detail.

So that it might look like this; C:\Programs\Folding@Home\FAH4Console.exe -forceSSE -verbosity 9

If you've not done so, when doing the config, be sure to go into advanced setup and set the client to do F@H exclusively (If you want) and set the CPU percentage and priority to your preference.

And yes, it'll keep on running in the background. :Rocker:

AS a service, it could start each time you restart computer, you might try a reboot\restart and make sure it restarts given that you have it as a console client that is not a service. The nice thing, is if you have RAM limted, services get more real-time priority than pure DOS console F@H can.

Personally, I get enough work out of my graphical client, I just keep the graphics minimized. AND, I installed it as admin and made it an all users program so no matter who logs in, it runs.

Verbosity x where x=1-9 says how much info is shown in the log file. 9 will show the most and 1 the least. Default is I think 6. 9 is better when diagnosing problems.

    RWB: -advmethods -forceSSE.

Bothered: Dont forget -advmethods which should get you the semi-beta gromacs right now.

I changed it. I couldn't see if it was doing anything so I got the graphical, That's what I had before, I first got the latest, 4, but everytime I clicked display windows said there was a problem and turned it off. I installed 3.24 and it's running like it used to. At least it's doing a bit to help.
Where exactly do I add -forceSSE -verbosity 9? There isn't a shortcut as such, it just runs.

I dont understand. You say you got the console but then you said you clicked on the display but there is no display. Then you said you got the GUI but the GUI puts a shortcut in the Startup folder.

And the console shows way more than the GUI. And what just runs is the console not the GUI. The GUI installs and everything. And since I see you have Athlons, 3.24 will not do.

Sorry, with the console one there was nothing in the system tray so I wasn't sure if it was running or not. Whenever I opened the shortcut it seemed to be starting again. I uninstalled it and installed the graphical. If I click display on that it tells me exactly where it's up to but it kept turning off. I installed 3.24 and that runs fine, and display on that lets me know what's happening.
It seems to be running ok, Why won't 3.24 do?

If you have SSE on that CPU you will not be able to use it. Only 3.25 or 4.0 can.

SSE isn't supported on mine, But I have a birthday coming up so a new CPU may be on it's way. I'm due a bit of an upgrade.
