External display problems

I have recently purchased a manhattan vga to hi-speed usb 2.0 converter so i can mirror my main display to a secondary one as the pc (its actually a pos system) graphics card doesnt support this.
My problem is that each time i restart the pc, windows reset my settings and from 800x600 resolution (highest supported fro the external monitor) that i have it set-up it goes to 1024. is there a way of making a script or something so i can prevent windows doing this?.
