3 Folding boxes down for good

Well it was a nice run but as of Dec 31, 3 of my folding boxes are offline. I moved into a new place with my gf in Dec in which I have my main rig and Kristie's 700Mhz Duron rig folding. All the while I still have possession of my old place until Jan 31 which for this last while was housing my other 3 computers. Well, I had the cable disconnected there Tuesday which means no more folding. My power was included in the rent so for the last 3 years I ran my 4 rigs 24/7 (nice) but that's not the case with my new place and we have to pay utilities which means I cannot justify running all 4 rigs plus Kristie's system (she won't let me :grumble: ), plus we just don't have the space for it.

So end result will be me consolidating my 4 computers, pumping up my main computer as much as I can and building Kristie a new rig from the leftovers and retiring here 700Mhz Duron.

Bottom line......I will have a 1.83Ghz XP for myself, Kristie will get a 1.73Ghz system for which I will build her and in the end I'll have a 1.7Ghz, 1.63Ghz and a 700Mhz Duron doing absolutely nothing. :grumble:

I'm not sure what I will do with them all yet, I do know I am going to put together one for my parents and probably leave what's left over for spare parts in case components start dying on me. I may even do some selling because I need new cymbals for my drums. If there is anything left over, I'll look into donating to the SMx parts fund.

Just an FYI as to why my production has slowed down. :grumble:

It's OK man - you're still a great contributor to the team, and I respect you for that.

I understand fully about the costs of running a farm, Terry. I figure my farm is costing somewhere in the neighborhood of $100-150 month to keep up and running and cooled down. Counting your parent's rig that you will build them, you will still have 3 computers folding though.

If you still want to fold with those rigs at the old place until the power is cut off, you can sneakernet some wu's if you want to go through the trouble to do it, especially with the new version 4 client. The new client lets you run up to 8 instances on 1 rig, which you can use to upload and download wu's to. If you have a pen drive it makes it easy to transfer the folders between the rigs.
