When I switched to 2007 I hated the ribbon. After using it for about a month, I found it much more useful and quicker than the old menu system ever was.
Its helpful for those of us that spend a relatively trivial amount of time using Office 2007.
Take myself, I have it, but I use it a cumulative total of once a month, if that. I don't spend enough work hours figuring out the nuances of the new toolbar. So this keeps my productivity up while still learning.

I feel the same way. And with customizable quick launch bar it lets me be more efficient that I ever was with Office 2003.
Oh, and the auto-formatting doesn't suck nearly as much anymore. It's actually pretty nice.
