Sata 'No-Show' drives?

edited March 2009 in Hardware
General question to the minds in the know.

I just purchased a new sata Pioneer optical dvd burner. Unfortunately it won't show in Windows, but will show in the bios at start-up. I just rebuilt this computer with a Phenom 2, Gigabyte MA78GM-US2H Mobo, 4 gigs Ram, and two WD harddrives. I've been reading about sata drives playing ghost, but never experienced it until now. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I may make this all work? Everything is brand new, out of the box.
Thanx

Can you post a screenshot of your device manager, please?

I often had this problem with some of my drives. Telling device manager to search for new hardware always made them show up.
