Memory testers and windows _ XP's ram diag utility
They always say to really test the memory you have to boot outside windows as in memtest and docmemory etc.... but I have had a couple times especially with dual cpu rigs that I think are pickier about ram anyway where the memory would test ok with docmemory and I would boot into windows and get weird errors. replacing the ram would always cure the problems.... hmmmm.
Am I the only one that didn't know that windows xp has a ram diagnostic utility now? I found a link for it in the xp sp2 readme about what to do if an xp upgrade barfs. have not tried it yet but ... how long has XP had a ram diagnostic utility available and has anyone else used it or have user feedback to provide here? I swear I'm always the last guy to find this crap.
Tex.... must learn to actually "read" more of these confounded "readme" files I guess...

John.
It doesn't actually run in windows, if that wasn't made clear. It's just like docmemory or memtest, in that it's DOS.

If you want to see something funny, go to start|run and type IExpress.exe ....

Also, I downloaded the mtinst.zip and unzipped it but I don't see how to launch it in a command prompt from within XP?
It did give me the option of creating a disk or ISO to run it from...
