Gents,

Im having trouble with webpages not opening with explorer. The page will "load" and say "done" at the lower left but there will be a blank white page. This doesn't happen for all pages, but does for a frustrating few.
I have Vista running.

Ideas?

Well, I suppose the obvious/snide answer would be, "Get Firefox!"

Ooooooo.... hey, is this like, a stock-portfolio app or something like that? I recently helped someone get one of those going, that would only work on IE... turned out, when we called the site's tech support, that there was a known problem with the latest version of Java - they had us revert a couple levels for it to work... something like, the newest version was "Version 6, Update 11", and their software wouldn't work on anything newer than "Update 8".

Er, FF has always done tabbed browsing... IEtab just loads the IE engine in one of them, for sites that only work on IE. I use it for a couple sites that require an ActiveX plugin.

Ah, OK. Thanks for trying. i've never had this problem before, so Im at a loss. Some sites work and some dont, its weird.

Do you think an earlier version of Java may work?

Might be worth a try... like I say, it was the official fix/workaround for one particular banking site.

You could also try calling that bank site's tech support, as in our case, that's where we actually got the fix.

I did, and they say call microsoft. Good luck with that, right? I dont get how a company as large as MS can have such crappy tech support. When I get this fixed Im never using IE again.

Get Internet Explorer 8. I have been a FF user for many years and recently switched to IE8. It is a lot better and more secure than anything else right now. the best part is that everything works out of the box with no fuss or muss! ;)
