getting to windows repair and search doesn't work Xp

I have done a system repair for Windows XP in the past. When I tried today I get the blue screen that reads Windows XP and I waited for at least 5 minutes and that was all that appeared.

In the past I have seen Windows XP and Welcome to Setup. Any ideas on how to override this?

Also, i my search doesn't work in XP. I go to start>search>all files and folders>entered *.jpg or anything and nothing pops up.

I did control alt delete and it shows search results Not Responding

Any ideas
