I am thinking of getting my wife a Wii for her birthday in October ( yea i gotta save up for it so I start early ) She and I always play Super Smash Bros on the GC, Is there any ther games I should keep a look out for other than the normal Mario games?

Is Kart a "normal Mario game"? If not, add to list.

I agree on Mario Kart, that game is a win win for everybody, in fact, its my favorite Wii title,

My family is getting alot of milage out of guitar hero world tour, and we all like a round of cooking mama from time to time.

    Mario Kart is awesome.
Resident Evil 4 is pretty neat.
    Zelda is neat.

    LostWinds on WiiWare is excellent.

    Metroid Prime 3 is excellent.

    Boom Blox, definite must have
    Super Mario World
    Mario Kart
Rockband 2 is excellent family fun. But if you are popping money for a wii then another $200 for rockband 2 may be a little much right away.
Zelda is a solid action game that looks and plays good
Res 4 is good, but depends on what your wife is into

If you have smash bros for GC already, I wouldn't worry about the Wii version. Not that there is anything wrong with it just that it doesn't really make it all that much better. You could of course try trading in the GC version for a used wii version there's some merit in that.

    Metroid is awesome.

Mad World is a great ultraviolent game. Though it's a tad short for the full price tag I found. But it is amazingly fun.

Boom Blox though, still one of the best games around. There is a sequel due out soonish also that is supposed to be bigger and better.

Careful with this one because it is a birthday present but Wii Fit is an awesome game, more like many mini games. If she is into Yoga it is worth it just for that. (Only you can decide if you should buy an 'exercise machine' for your wife's birthday)

As stated, Cookin Mama is TERRIFIC! . Along the same line of the mini games, Wii play is a good by as it is only $10-$15 more then a Wiimote by itself and comes with some fun minigames (you are going to buy another Wiimote anyways). Wario Smooth Moves is another minigame collection, though I have not played it myself (only earlier Warioware games).

If she has interest in the Lego games or Star Wars in general, The entire Star Wars Lego saga can be had for $20.

If she likes classic games, consider some Wii Shop points as part of the gift. This will allow her to SHOP and GAME, cant beat that eh? Points can be purchased at retail stores or through the system once setup (note no tax is charged when you buy through the Wii shop)

Lastly don't forget the Wii is 100% backwards compatible with Gamecube games and peripherals. If you are going to buy Brawl then you will probably want to get a gamecube controller anyways (if you are hardcore Smashers), could pick up a few GC games as a side gift. [Edit] I have since realized that you stated you already have a GC and games, go ahead and ignore that part.[/Edit]

    :-D

How could I have forgot Guitar Hero. Note if you are going to go all out and buy a full band kit, buy the Guitar Hero World Tour set. All of the peripherals are compatible with Rock Band Games (ie You can buy just a Rock Band game and play it with your Guitar Hero guitars, drums and mic). This does not go the other way, Rock band Drums and Mic do not work with Guitar Hero.

I've played WarioWare, it's great but only in a group (Haha, talk about a drinking game). It's fast paced, but alone it loses a ton of its value (like most mini game type games)

I'll second the recommendation for Wii Fit - it's great as an exercise "helper" but there are a bunch of cool games included that make excellent use of the "balance board" - soccer goalie, hula hoops, snowboarding, skiing, ski jumping, etc. It's kinda like those cereal commercials, just don't tell anyone that it's good for them!

Oh yeah, and even the included Wii Sports games can be hours of entertainment, especially for a slightly inebriated group. The Wii Bowling is a blast!

I don't own a Wii but I'd have to agree Wii Sports is awesome!

Only played it a couple times. Boxing is great; so is baseball once you get the hang of it

Wii boxing is great, until you think you've gotten the hang of it. Then suddenly you can't get anything to work like you think it should.

Boxing reminds me more of a turn based game then a real time one. It's all about timing your punches and not going crazy wailing at your opponent
