Windows Vista Just Continues to Show "Microsoft Corporation"

My HP Pavilion just continues to show Microsoft Corporation and the bar without loading to sign in. i tried repairing the startup with a vista DVD but it just say there is no problem with the startup and that i should send the report to microsoft. any other solution?

    What did you try to do to repair the startup?

    I repaied the startup by booting with the windows vista dvd and i chose repair startup in the options provided. Any lead yet?

    Ok lets take it back a step. I'll assume at some point your computer was working, then this suddenly started happening. What happened between those to states. Did you try installing any software or hardware or system updates? Has your computer been crashing a lot or acting weird? Did you have any power issues like power surges during a lightning storm... There could be an arms' length of problems that could be causing this issue. The fact that the startup repair didn't fix things, isn't a good sign.

    Have you tried booting up in safe mode? Have you tried using the Command Prompt option from the windows dvd to see if you can browse your drive and make sure the data is largely intact?
