Anonymous logins to win2k server ....
or maybe some other solution.
Currently we make our own XP images at our school so we control user names - passwords etc. Our school district is moving to a standard image so that will all change.
We're running a language app on XP clients that accesses the server for content. So we have a shared folder (read only) on the server set to allow the user student passwd go to have access. And of course on the server we have a user called student with passwd go --- so windows networking does its thing (checking login credentials on the client to the users on the server ... all is fine).
So as mentioned that will all change so I either need to allow anonymous logins to that shared folder OR find the setting in XP that removes the requirement (or check) that matches user ID to a user on the server OR possibly both. I've tried putting anonymous login into the shared folders permissions - but the app cannot make the the connection.
Can I just do this on the server side - or do both the client(s) and server need tweaking?
THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND BRAIN CYCLES ON THIS !!!!!!!
