Bring list:
  • Computer (including monitor, keyboard and mouse)
  • 25+ ft ethernet cable
  • 6+ plug power strip
  • Heavy duty extension cord (if not flying)
  • Towel & toiletries
  • Sleeping bag, ground pad, & pillow (bring all 3 for indoor OR outdoor)
  • Tent (if possible)

2-person air mattresses must have 2 people on it.

Tents must be filled to comfortable capacity. 2 people in a 4-person tent is dumb and a waste of space.

Food tour:
Please bring cash in smaller bills for your meals. Debit cards and 20s make things very difficult when 8 people need to split a bill.

Clothing:
  • Shorts for mid-day
  • Hooded sweatshirt / jeans for evenings

Beverages:
  • BYOB, including Gatorade, etc. Stay hydrated.
  • No alcohol for minors.
  • Moderate alcohol consumption

Lost & Found:
  • We DO NOT ship lost & found items
  • Don't leave stuff for the post office

Do we need the power strip and extension cord if we're just bringing a lappy?

Also, one year i was there it was really cold, and I was still freezing with a sweatshirt on. but I also am skinny.

    Cash, and not all 20's?

Good call on the cash; edited OP.

If you're bringing just a lappy, no. If you have other stuff that needs to be plugged in, yes.

Added a note that fliers can skip the extension cord, too. We have a few here.

I also want to add that I am "hoping" to have power sorted better than last year.

    Planning has commenced.

Small convenience store and ATM within walking. Big Grocery store that gets at least 10 trips per event. Someone can take you wherever you need to go :)

For those of us from warmer climates, bring your cold weather clothing. When Dogdragon and I arrived last year, it was about the same temp as a cold winter day in North Florida: 50s and 60s. I was FREEZING in long pants, a beanie and a hoodie.

hah! I lost an unhealthy amount of weight a few years ago and have nothing but skin on these bones. I get cold VERY easily, never really recovered from it.

And I'll be there in shorts and short sleeves.

I bring my man card out in full force at EPIC

    Bump....

Here is the lay of the land when it comes to Power (juice, electricity):

There will be 2 outlets per table, which we then plug in hopefully 2 power strips. That should give us 12 - 16 outlets per table (We typically put 2 actual tables end to end and call that 1).

2 physical tables can hold 6 - 8 people easily if towers are placed on the floor (yes that is where they need to be)

That means (if we have 2 outlets minimum per PC) that we can get 6 to 8 PC's per circuit. If there are outlets left over at your table and you need to charge a phone, etc.. fine.. but DO NOT count on extra outlets being available "for your convenience". I might be able to arrange a place where empty outlets can be available for general use of such things, but please try to limit what you bring and expect to plug in to use your PC.

There will also be 1 outlet (on a powerstrip) consumed by a switch for networking. I am going try to have more switches this year, so we have shorter network runs and not a mess everywhere.

Headphones, not speakers.. therefore 2 outlets (1 for PC, 1 for monitor) should be all that is necessary, right?

ANOTHER NOTE: PLEASE, PLEASE do not show up and take your PC right into the tent. Consult with myself or another staff member if the tent is ready to have PC's placed in it. The tent and floor may be up, but I need time to get the network and power in place after that is setup. Hopefully scheduling goes well and that is done before you get there, but with people arriving the weekend before, some of you are going to be there before me.

    Thanks.

TL;DR: The only thing you own that should be plugged in is your PC and your monitor. Don't put any of your shit in the tent until Eric, Brian or Matt tell you to.

Sounds like you got it down this year Ryder, ^5

Q's projector, my Laptop and speakers will need outlets for the IC:YiR video (so 3 outlets), then not afterwards unless Q is planning to let people use the projector for other things.

Maybe it could be used for spectator mode during tournaments.

Under the assumption that extra outlets will NOT be available, what's the likelihood of you finding this place with empty outlets for phone charginz?

How do you guys get around this issue, usually? Not really a problem, or should I invest in one of those fancy 'ZOMG CHARGE YOUR PHONE IN LIKE TEN SECONDS REGARDLESS OF THE DAMAGE IT DOES TO YOUR BATTERY' things?
