2009 boardgaming
I'll be running a boardgaming table again this year, and it's time to let me know if you have any boardgame requests.
Games already planned for the table:
Check my BGG profile for a complete list of my boardgames. Almost all of them are eligible for the boardgame table, so let me know if there is one that you would like to request that I bring along.
As in past years, there will be no need for anyone else to lug their own boardgames to the event.
There will be prizes (tickets) for everyone who participates in the boardgaming (with bonuses for the winners).
A few games will be scheduled each day (each major game I bring will have at least one scheduled play-time) , those games can be signed up for in advance, so that you can be sure to get in on your favorite game, but there will also be pick-up games in between which will happen randomly, and on a first-come first-serve basis.
We will hopefully have a seperate shelter this year which will be didicated to boardgaming. The logistics of this are still being considered.
Games already planned for the table:
- Settlers of Catan
- Vegas Showdown
- Nexus Ops
- Power Grid
- various card and small-board games (the infamous gaming toolbox)

Power Grid is a good idea. Added to the list.
Awesome, thanks!
I'm also planning on bringing, unless I'm met with heavy resistance, a board game I made that is heavily based of an old game called Mutant Chronicles: Siege of the Citadel. It is an insanely long game a turn based rpg where heroes move on a grid. It may not be played, but might as well let you guys take a look and enjoy :P We turned in into Star Wars, and remade the heroes, items, vehicles, starships etc... Haven't played it in years now... so there is a chance some things don't make 100% sense.
***NOTE***
just googled it.... theres apparently a brand new version of this game. A 2 player game that takes ~1 hr to finish table top board game. Buying the game now ^_^ I could bring it to lan as well.
As for board games, Stratego is a favorite of mine.... although according to your list you hate it :P I've always just played the 2 player version though. At lan if you care, I'll be happy to share my basic strategy for the game.
In the past my friends have had random "card" based games such as the Munchkin series, little inexpensive games from places like Gamer's Paradice. Fairly simple rules with a lot of comedy and diverse gameplay. Not sure what games you know like this, but worth looking into I'd think.
My friend suggested the black tower, but i have no clue what it is / haven't played it.
There is no need for anyone else to use their valuable travel space to bring boardgames. This ensures that all of the games we play meet certain criteria for length, pace, and difficulty, and are easy for me to teach and referee.
EDIT: Found a Flash version that is exactly like the game.

So, the current list is:
- Settlers of Catan
- Vegas Showdown
- Nexus Ops
- Power Grid
- Carcassonne
- Ticket to Ride: Marklin (Germany)
- various card and small-board games (the infamous gaming toolbox)
Only room left for a couple more games.*waves*
Always down for Balderdash or Pictionary! I vote CB brings Fluxx, too.
No need to vote Fluxx is among the various card games in the toolbox.
I'll also be available to teach the games (or basic gaming euro-gaming) principles one-on-one during down times if you want to be prepared.
If you're really worried about it. try to be around for a game of Carcassonne or Nexus Ops, as those are easiest to learn for people used to American boardgaming.
IMO Power Grid is better. Give more games a chance!
Vegas Showdown is also a great game that I hope many of you will get a chance to play. It's Sim Casino on the tabletop!
